Hello, I have written a short resume of the visit to Spain of
thee xposicion Monografica National,
Collie Club De Espana
Special thanks must go to Frank Javier Gonzalez and the
committee members for the hospitality
shown to us whilst we were in Spain. We were met at the
airport terminal and taken back to our
hotel in Madrid, and a little later set off sightseeing
around Madrid city centre. Followed by a
memorable late night meal !!
An early morning start on Saturday morning and a surprise
trip to Atletico Madrid football stadium
awaited us, and a trip around the club shop and a sneak look
at the trophy room. I can only presume
Frank had said we were V,I,P,s to get
us into the stadium. Back to the hotel and a quick
pack and we
were on our travels, around lunch time we arrived at The
Ancient Roman city of Segovia, the Castle,
Church, and Aqueduct where breathtaking. again a short drive
and another meal, From here we were
taken to our overnight hotel, time for a quick shower, dress
and an evening meal. This time with
committee and all exhibitors, and an enjoyable time was had
by all. By late evening it was nice to renew
an old acquaintance when I met Madam Josefina Gomez Toldra
whom i had not seen for many years.
A welcome nights sleep before the day of the show, Now Sunday
and suitably dressed in suit and tie
I had a small breakfast, suddenly English weather had arrived
It was pouring with rain!! When
we arrived at the venue I was pleased to see we had a sports
centre arranged just in case of bad
weather, well done¡ It was obvious we would have to commence
judging inside as it was still raining.
The floor surface was exceptionally slippery, and had more
line painted on it than Madrid Station. I had
to make allowences for some of the exhibits who were not at
ease on the floor surface.
My best baby was a superb Sable the most gorgeous head, with
sweet eye and well used ears, he had
superb construction and was expertly presented, and
outstanding tricolour also caught my eye, he had
a good head with the most appealing expression from his
correctly placed eyes and stop, he used his
ears, was well constructed, he just took a total dislike to
the floor surface.I was pleased with the entry
The Open Dog and Bitch classes were superb, I finished up
shortlisting 8 dogs, which I think pleased
the exhibitors to make the final placings. My CAC male was a
superb rich sable, Emryk`s Love in
Motion , Glorious head Excellent foreface, with correctly
placed eyes, Neat well use ears. A lovely
neck and correctly constructed, He had super boning and
excellent rear assembly, and moved well
on the slippery floor, My best bitch was Do Ripaumia Briseida
a sable bitch of exceptional quality
Lovely head, pattern nice eye correct stop, excellent
construction and moved with ease, I was very
pleased at the end of the show to see My Baby finish best
Baby in show, My puppy go Best puppy in
show, And my BOB the superb Male Go Best in Show.
Special thanks to all my exhibitors for the sporting way they
received my placings, its nice to see
genuine hand-shakes between exhibitors. A few things for some
exhibitors to bear in mind!! I found
some dirty teeth, and a few exhibits could have benefited
from a bath, It is getting very expensive to
attend dog shows and being a beauty show you must present
your dog to look its best.
I managed to speak to some of the exhibitors and feel there
are club members who will be
challenging the best in the near future, with their serious
attitude toward breeding the Rough Collie.
I see a good future for the Club and Rough Collie in Spain.
